The Lady Falcons closed out their 2021 season in fine fashion with an impressive effort at 4A Girls State Swim and Dive Meet on Nov. 12 and 13.

“It was an exciting WIAA 4A State competition for our Lady Falcons,” coach George Sayah said. “All of our Friday night events advanced to the championship finals on Saturday.”

Junior Maren Rusk set the pace for Woodinville in the finals, placing 4th in the 500-yard Freestyle event with a time of 5:12.84. It was the second fastest finish in school history. Rusk also finished 7th in the 200-yard Individual Medley. She was named First Team All KingCo this season as well.

The team of senior Taylor Fitch, Sophomore Taryn Han, Freshman Megan Traina and Rusk, had an impressive 10th place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay event clocking a time of 3:45.72. The time shaved 15 seconds off the group’s fastest finish during the season.

Rusk, Fitch, Han and Traina also placed 16th in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:46.95

The Falcons will lose a couple of swimmers to graduation but will return a strong nucleolus for the 2022 season.

“Taylor completes her career with Woodinville High School at this State Championship meet with personal best times, strong leadership, and tremendous contribution to our program. She was also named to the All KingCo Team Honorable Mention earlier this season,” Sayah said. “We look forward to the return of Taryn, Megan, Maddie and Maren next season.”
