This December, the citizens of Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park and Shoreline are invited to participate in the 2021 Winter Porch Light Parade. Participants must decorate their house in a bevy of lights and other decorations in the most creative ways they can think of. The organizers encourage the light displays to cover as many parts of the house as possible, especially the porch!

Registration for the event is now open but closes on Dec. 19. Anyone who registers will have their home added to a virtual map. Then, all can go and see all the beautiful displays people. Participation is free.

The organizers have made it clear that there is no right or wrong way to decorate for the parade as long as you are being inclusive and good-spirited. The displays should be appropriate for a family audience. Displays without lights are welcome too!

While this is an event mainly for fun, there is an optional friendly competition. Participants may sign their display up to be judged under one of three categories: Best Small Space, Best LEDLights, and Best Overall. Each city will award a prize to the winning display in each of the three categories. Participants must register before Dec. 12 if they wish to compete. The winning displays will be announced on Dec. 17.

The map to see all of the displays will become available on Dec. 1 and will remain open for the entire month. Make sure to check out the Winter Porch Light Parade website (sites.google.com/view/winterporchlightparade/) for the map and more details.
