Three players scored in double figures and Woodinville dominated Bothell 67-49 in KingCo Conference action on Saturday, May 1.
Things got off to a slow start offensively, with Woodinville up top 14-11 after the first eight minutes were in the books. The teams battled to a 24-21 score with just over three minutes to go in the second quarter, but Woodinville then kicked it up a notch with a 9-0 run to close it out and take a 33-23 lead at intermission.
The Falcons Mia Hughes led all scorers at the break with 12 points. Teammate Veronica Sheffey added 10. Bothell’s Ella Kaleta had 10.
Woodinville came out of intermission with a purpose and doubled up Bothell 18-9 to increase its lead to 51-32 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Cougars scored the first two buckets, but it was all Falcons after that as the visitors increased their margin to 66-45 with 2:43 second to play.
Hughes finished the contest with a game-high 24 points. Sheffey posted 17 and Tatum Thompson added 11.
Woodinville improves to 3-0 with the win. The Falcons are averaging 69 points per outing, 40 rebounds, 17 assists, 17 steals, shooting 44% from the floor and 73% from the charity stripe.
The loss drops Bothell drops to 2-1.
The teams lace it up one more time this season when the Cougars travel to Falcons territory, Tuesday evening, May 4. The game starts at 5:30.
